Dark Arts

Seeing as it's almost Halloween, I thought I would upload some darker art.

Swoon

Gone with the Wind
Had to pay homage to the epic.  I sketched this all the while humming 'Tara's theme' and managed to finish it in about a tenth of the time the movie takes to finish! But it's worth it!

Creating Space

So whilst (yes whilst!) I was tidying up all my art junk, I came across this ink painting I started about a year ago.  I quite like it - although I can't decide whether its finished or not.  It reminded me how much I enjoy working on larger canvases (it's A2).  It really gives you space to be more expressive and more detailed - without hunching over and squinting your eyes!  Trouble is, working on anything bigger than A4 takes up, at least, a 5 metre radius work space.  So I've decided it's time I created more space.

The Raven

So I did a week long illustration course about 2 years ago - which I loved - the result was a little picture book I created to illustrate scenes from Edgar Allan Poe's 'The Raven'.  I didn't totally love the work I produced, but the experience was well worth it.  Below is one of my illustrations.

Digital Dilemma

I am still in two minds about digital art.  I like the control you get with it, and I like messing around with all the effects.  I also like that I don't have to clean up afterwards.  But... there's something missing.  Anyway here is another digital drawing/painting or whatever you want to call it.

Embroidered Skull

I've been looking for ways to create an embroidery effect in photoshop and found this cross-stitch pattern which I think works really well.  Although I think the design has to be simple with as few colours as possible.
