Favourite Things Continued
Here are the rest of my 'favourite things'. The artist Aubrey Beardsley: using only the pen tool; and my favourite time of the year: using illustrator and photoshop.
I was ineffective with time management and have to admit these illustrations suffered from being rushed. I think good illustration requires time to be experimental and playful otherwise it becomes formulaic; and I definitely noticed that as the deadline veered closer, I resorted to shortcuts that didn't satisfy me in the same way it would have, had I given myself more time. Balancing the 'getting it done' with the breathing space to actually be creative is - I think - fundamental to illustration.

Illustrator: Favourite Things
So the brief here was to use Adobe Illustrator to come up with 3 digital illustrations describing:
1. Favourite Place
2. Favourite Person
3. Favourite (something of your own choosing)
One illustration had to use basic shapes, one had to use the pen tool and blending modes, and one had to mix Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
I have been quite busy this past few weeks and the deadline is next week, but I am finished (or at least happy enough) with my 'Favourite Place'. I have many favourite places but for the purposes of getting the brief done I had to choose!
So here it is, using basic shapes and the pathfinder tool, which I have a new appreciation and love for.
