Ben
I've decided I'm going to focus more on portraits.  This was done in ink, then coloured in photoshop.

Mateus

Mateus

Pencil sketch with a little more attention to detail.  I think I get bored after about an hour of drawing.  I could add darker tones, but, i quite like it like this.

Monkey Beetle

Monkey Beetle
So, I don't normally draw animals/plants/insects BUT I was very much enchanted by the monkey beetle - which - sleeps inside an enclosed daisy at night to keep warm.  Sweet!

Sketchy Work

Here are some bits and bobs from my sketchbooks.  It took me a long time before I would actually keep the stuff I sketched.  I would draw, dislike it, rip it up.  I have since learned that looking back on your sketches is really quite fascinating.

Time

Club Kid
So with work and my TEFL, I have barely had a minute to lift a pencil.  But I want to post something, so I'm having a look through older stuff.

Tech Drawing

The best thing about using different tools in art, is the different outcomes you get from each of them.  Generally speaking, charcoal loosens everything up, painting is very expressive, using marker pens is very graphic and pencils give great shading and tonal work.

Recently I have become obsessed with technical pens.  Purpose made for technical drawing - obviously - they give great intricacy and detail - I seem to draw in a very different way.  The result is distinctive and somewhat confined in style.  I'm definitely going to continue using them in my sketching, and start combining with different tools to see what new and interesting results I can muster.

Seeing as it's almost Halloween, I thought I would upload some darker art.
